Overview:
Traditional approaches to student behavior often focus on control and compliance, leading to exclusionary practices that disproportionately affect students with disabilities, students of color, and other marginalized groups. Redesigning Behavior invites educators to shift from reactive discipline models toward proactive, relationship-centered practices grounded in dignity, regulation, and belonging.
This four-part webinar series explores how beliefs, nervous system science, classroom design, and disability awareness can transform the way we understand and respond to student behavior. Through data, reflection, and actionable strategies, participants will reframe behavior as communication and design environments where all students—especially those with invisible disabilities or executive functioning challenges—can thrive.
By the end of the series, participants will:
-
Reflect on how personal and systemic beliefs shape responses to student behavior.
-
Understand the connection between adult nervous system regulation and effective behavior support.
-
Apply proactive classroom and instructional design strategies to prevent behavioral challenges.
-
Recognize the impact of executive functioning and invisible disabilities on student behavior and identity.
-
Co-develop inclusive support plans with students that honor voice, agency, and dignity.
